using data like it’s going out of fashion!
Take the guesswork out of it!
Google Analytics is very powerful and worth utilising, we install the software with every new website we build. What you do with it is the big question?
Google Analytics is about knowing how your website is navigated by your customers and how they interact with your website. For example, if your analytics show that 30% of your website visitors first click is to your Contact Us page then you might want to put that information on your home page to improve your customer’s user experience.
Another great example and where it really becomes powerful is tracking your Adwords visits, if users are leaving your site within 5 seconds of landing of your home page then it’s not relevant to them and your Adwords dollars are being wasted!
Running multiple Adwords campaigns with different Keywords, Ad Content and Landing Pages (where they get taken to within your site) then using Google Analytics to track how they all perform will deliver a much better user experience for less money.
Numbers don’t lie as the phrase goes and the best way to know your audience is through your traffic stats and this is exactly what Google Analytics provides.
Some of what Google Analytics can show you:
Who visits your website – The user’s location (city, country), what time of the day they visit, what device they are using (needed for optimisation), which language they speak and much more.
What they look at in your website – You can see how long users stay on your website, what pages they are visiting the most, which page is causing the users to leave, how many pages an average user is viewing.
When people visit your site – You can see what time of the day is the best for your website. This helps you pick the time to publish information onto your posts. Where did they arrive on your website from – you can see how the user found you. Whether it was through a search engine (Google), social networks (Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter etc), a link from another website, or a direct type-in. Google Analytics also shows you the breakdown of each traffic source, so you can focus on specific ones for marketing to get the best return.
How users interact with your site’s content – You can see how many users clicked on a specific link, what links and locations get the most attention and what menu or links are the most popular.
We can go on about Data-Driven Design and Marketing for decades but believe us when we say it’s an extremely valuable tool and included free with every Lite Digital website build.
